A massive 8.9/9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby Northeastern Japan at around 2:46pm on March 11 (JST) causing damage with blackouts, fire and damages.
It hit Sendai and sending tsunami warnings to more than 20 countries nearby.
The earthquake caused extensive damage in Japan, including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas, and a dam collapse. Around 4.4 million households in northeastern Japan were left without electricity and 1.4 million without water.

As of today, the Japanese National Police Agency has confirmed 2400 deaths and are expected to rise significantly and rapidly wtih more than 1990 injuries and more than 10000 people is still missing.
The estimates of the Sendai earthquake's magnitude made it the most powerful earthquake to hit Japan and one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world.
Not only it is the most powerful earthquake to hit Japan, it is also the worst scenario and situation faced by the Japanese after World War II.
Many rescues team from countries has been flewn in to help and also to plan on some rescue activities. Many people are being evacuate to shelter centres and are waiting for safety signal before they can return to their 'homes'.
There are 2465 Malaysian students in Japan but only 300 had been traced since the quake.
Hopefully they are all safe and sound.
Let's pray for Japan. May they will overcome this difficult situation full with strength and spirit from Lord.

We should be grateful that Malaysia is a country that is free from earthquake, volcanos, tsunami,etc
But if we human is not starting to appreciate the earth, there will be many more natural disaster in the future which include happening in Malaysia.
